Ovum (oocyte) donation is a method which offers the possibility of pregnancy in patients for whom no other opportunity exists.This method has been developed for women who do not develop their own ova. A donated ovum is also suitable for women with a genetic disorder that could be transferred to their offspring. The ova donators are women who undergo IVF and produce an increased number of their own oocytes,or women who undergo the stimulation only for the purpose of donation. Embryos cultivated from donated ova may be transferred either fresh or frozen (cryopreserved).

The age of both the donor and the recipient is crucial for successful donation. Oocyte donors are young women (under 35 years). Anonymity between the donor and the recipient and concurrently between the donor and the born child is guaranteed. All potential donors undergo genetic examinations and blood tests.
